The end of Term 3 turned out to be the end of an era at Carterton School as we farewelled two long-term members of staff. Both John Le Grice and Michael O’Connell have retired after many years of service both in our school and other schools around the country.
The students planned and presented certificates, items and cards to them both.
We also had family members, friends and past staff come to our special event to farewell them. We wish them both a long and happy retirement.
The last week of school was also a time to celebrate and learn about Matariki and the importance of this event to the people of Aotearoa. We celebrated with presentations and performances by a large group of students from around the school.
Towards the end of the term we also recognised Leadership Week with a visit from a representative from the Sir Peter Blake Trust and the presentation of ‘Red Sock’ badges to leaders from each class.
One fun event for all was the annual teacher/student basketball game – and the winner was ???
Our final assembly of the term is always a special one as each class celebrates the Student of the Term – someone who is diligent, kind and who goes the extra mile. Other awards were given by the Board of Trustees and staff for outstanding performance and contribution to school life.
