Fun Friday
It is always a busy time at Carterton School but the last two weeks of term have been especially busy – and also a lot of fun. Last week we had ‘Fun Friday’. The PTA provided the whole school with a saugage sizzle, a lolly scramble and we had a free mufti day, with many people choosing to dress up. Carterton School App is now available in the Apple and Google Play Apps Stores. If you have a smart phone or tablet, download this now and stay connected to receive important information and alerts. The app will be used to provide links, contacts, notices and our calender. You can also use it to advise the school of absenses. We will use it to advise you of any urgent alerts as well as sports, group and team information or cancellations.
ANZAC Commemoration Assembly & Town Parade
On Friday the whole school participated in our ANZAC Commemoration Assembly. We once again welcomed guests, including serving and past members of the New Zealand Forces, Ron Mark, MP, BOT members, representatives from the Carterton District Council and the local Returned Services Association. ANZAC Field of Remembrance
Yesterday several of our students attended the ceremony for the Carterton Field of remembrance in Memorial Square. They were amazing ambassadors and stars in the Wairarapa Times Age. Today were remembered fallen soldiers of World War I by placing crosses in our school Field of Remembrance. This was a moving time as the students erected the crosses and placed poppies on our fence as a sign of respect for the servicemen. We were assisted by Maj Dean Rennie and CPO Len Burland. The Carterton School Gala is one of our favourite annual events. This fun evening is organised by the PTA and supported by students, staff, whanau and our wider community.
Wairarapa Balloon Festival
We are very lucky in the Wairarapa to experience the annual balloon festival. Many of us were able to witness the mass ascension at Carrington Park this morning. The sky was a little grey but Peg Leg Pete the Pirate Parrot certainly brightened up the place! The 2015 school year has started with lots of enthusiasm and positive energy as everyone returns from their summer break.
